Try Rosemary’s just a couple of minutes’ walk from the Cave House. Food there is delicious, the views exemplary and the service super friendly.
Day 2. Explore Pyrgos village in the morning and relax on one of Santorini’s unique volcanic beaches
After a fabulous night in the Cave House, head off into the Village Square of Pyrgos for a leisurely breakfast. Sample Greek yogurt topped with local honey, and fresh fruits or opt for the pancakes with chocolate.
You may also want to spend time exploring the authentic Village of Pyrgos with more than 40 churches, narrow cobbled streets and squares filled with bougainvillea.
One of the best things to do is just to get lost in the village and around every corner you’ll find amazing views and wonderful photograph opportunities.
In the afternoon make a beeline for one of the island’s fabulous volcanic beaches. One of our favourite beaches is Vlychada on the south coast of the island with the amazing lunar landscape backdrop.
While away a few hours relaxing in the warm Greek sun, swim, have a spot of lunch by the beach and take time to chill out and recharge your batteries.
Day 3. Morning visit to Akrotiri and Fira for cocktails and dinner.
If you’d like to learn a little bit more about Santorini’s past, then make an Excursion to the ancient site of Akrotiri. The prehistoric site of ancient Akrotiri is one of the most important Minoan sites in the whole of the Aegean.
It’s also known as the Pompeii of Greece as like Pompeii. The village was covered in an ash cloud when the volcano erupted.
Nowadays, you can wander around the climate-controlled exhibition and marvel at the excavations that have taken place there.
After a morning exploring Akrotiri take time to chill out in the cave house. For sunset, take a taxi or local bus to Santorini’s capital Fira. Enjoy cocktails at PK Cocktail bar on the cliff edge and then book a table at one of the great restaurants in Fira.
Day 4. Santorini Sailing day cruise and evening wine tasting in Pyrgos
Book a sailing cruise around the coastline of Santorini stopping off at points of interest along the way. You’ll have the chance to see the famous Red Beach, black rock, White beach and swim in the hot springs of the volcano. Lunch is served onboard and transfers to and from Pyrgos are also included. It’s definitely going to be a highlight of your Santorini honeymoon.
Pyrgos is located in wine growing countryside and you’ll be able to sample the Santorini wines at one of the best wineries on the island, Santo Wines. Just 5 minutes away from the centre of Pyrgos village, Santo Winery boasts a stunning location on the edge of the caldera.
Day 5. Fira to Oia Hike or Oia sunset
Time to burn off a few calories on this 3-4 hour hike from Fira to Oia. You’ll see amazing scenery as you walk along the path from Fira to Oia. If you prefer a more relaxing option take a bus to Oia or a taxi and spend time wandering around the village, see the famous blue domed churches and stay for the epic Oia sunset. Highly recommend booking a table at a restaurant with sunset views.
Day 6. Relaxing day by the beach – the black beach of Santorini
Head to Perissa or Perivolos for the ultimate black beach experience. Choose from one of the many great beach bars that offer beach service, food and cocktails. Spend time enjoying the warm Greek summer, the crystal-clear waters of the Aegean and recharge your batteries.
In the evening, stroll to the top of Pyrgos village and grab a table at Franco’s. Amazing cocktails and heart-warming sunsets are guaranteed from this lofty spot.
