Owners of the Postgate Inn, in the village of Egton Bridge, near Whitby, decided to close after finding out about the positive Covid-19 result.
This is to allow them to undergo a deep clean of the B&B.
The North Yorkshire Moors B&B will remained closed for the weekend of Saturday, September 5 and Sunday, September 6.
In a statement shared on Saturday, September 5, pub owner Mark said: “We would like to make all of our customers aware that unfortunately we will not be open for the next 48 hours and would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused.
“We have just found out that one of our staff members (who works back of house in a non public-facing role) has tested positive for Covid19.
“Although after seeking professional advice from both government and brewery we have been told that we are able to remain open, our foremost concern as always is with our staff and customers.
“We have made the decision today to close for 48 hours to allow for a thorough and extensive deep clean as a purely precautionary measure for our own peace of mind.
“This period will also allow time for all members of staff to be fully tested before we re-open in 48 hours time.
“I feel sure that our wonderful customers will understand and support this decision in the knowledge that we want to ensure that we can welcome you all back in two days time when you will be able to relax and enjoy your delicious meals and delightful guest rooms.
“Many thanks from Mark and the team at The Postgate.”
