What We Do in the Shadows Showrunner Paul Simms revealed during the series’ NYCC panel that Season 3 shows how vampires plan for road trips.

During the What We Do in the Shadows panel at this year’s virtual New York Comic-Con, showrunner Paul Simms teased fans about several upcoming events in Season 3, including a road trip that’s sure to be awkward and hilarious.

“I won’t say where they’re going, but there’s a whole episode where the vampires go on a road trip to a place they don’t usually go,” revealed Simms. He spoke about how traveling for a vampire is challenging because they must have “soil from their homeland” under their coffins.

Based on the popular film of the same name by Taika Waititi and Jermain Clement, the What We Do in the Shadows TV series premiered on FX in March 2019, with Season 2 debuting in April 2020. The series received high praise from critics, earning 10 Emmy nominations so far.

Simms also spoke about other things fans could expect from Season 3, including that Kayvan Novak’s Nandor will be working on his love life. He’s [Nandor] been alone for such a long time,” Simms said. “It’s time for him to find a partner.”

What We Do in the Shadows stars Kayvan Novak, Natasia Demetriou, Matt Berry, Mark Proksch and Harvey Guillen. Taika Waititi co-produces alongside Jemaine Clement, Scott Rudin, Paul Simms, Stefani Robinson and Garrett Basch. The show’s first and second seasons are available to stream on Hulu and a currently unscheduled third season will air on FX.
